What happened?
This week has been about finishing some changes into the Office view of the game. When I started the prototype I had fixed views you could navigate through. After implementing the first person view, I decided to take the info from the desk and distribute it around the office. This way, the player can now explore and discover the interactive objects in the environment by its own means and standards.
The most relevant change is leaving the tablet screen less saturated with information. Now, for example, the player can press a key and take out a phone with all the news. It’s my very own clickbait interface similar to Microsoft Start, and taking it out of the tablet makes it a much more organic feature.
I have to give special thanks to my friend AndrĂ©s Klagges, who is currently developing the game PandemialZ. He helped me with the use of the World Space Canvas to create the phone interface. With his help now I can use this same process for other interfaces in the game, like the Compliance and Manual book. I still need to fix some pop-ups for a better visual experience, but for now it’s working pretty well in logic terms, giving most of the necessary information.
What’s Wrong?
This week the public contest for funding the game in Chile was announced. The dates were much earlier than I expected, so I have to rush and close a section of the core loop. This means that I will have to update the documentation before than expected and also program some of the core mechanics. I am keeping track of the tasks with a Jira board, hoping I can manage to do those things by the end of the mont while doing some side free-lance projects. We’ll see how it goes.
